Mrs. Cecilia Lopez

¡Felíz verano!

Where has the year gone?

I am amazed at how fast the school year went.  I want to thank every single one of you for all the support you gave to our Spanish program. Your children are such a gift to me! I love teaching them Spanish and preparing them for high school language acquisition one step at a time.

I pray God will bless you with time to spend connecting as a family, a change of pace to relax and play, and new experiences that will broaden the awareness of our beautiful world!

It's been a pleasure serving our St. Perpetua Community this year.  We'll see you back in August for another exciting year of Spanish learning!

¡Hola! ¡Bienvenidos a Santa Perpetua!

I was raised in Guadalajara, Jalisco Mexico.  I am the 8th child of a family of nine.  My family migrated to the U.S. when I was 14 and had to learn English by immersion! I attended high school at Our Lady of Peace in San Diego, CA and have a B.A. in Spanish Literature from the University of California, San Diego. I live with my husband in Martinez, CA. My son and my daughter have both graduated from college and are working as environmental scientists. I have been teaching Kindergarten through 8th grade Spanish for 15 years.

In my youth and college years I had many opportunities to travel throughout Mexico, the US and Europe. I fell in love with the world, the many cultures and the people I encountered.  There’s so much to learn from our differences!

I truly enjoy teaching Spanish.  You will often find me collaborating with world language teachers looking for new fun ways to enhance our language-learning program.  I enjoy traveling, hiking, reading, going to the theatre, and spending time with my family.

I hope I can spark curiosity about other cultures and a love for learning to speak another language.
