Mrs. Lisa Holmes

Welcome to the new Music Program at St. Perpetua School!

We are off to a great start!  The students are singing, listening and learning music in many creative ways.

In an effort to encourage students and families to take advantage of our rich musical community, I have created a page of links to many of the organizations in the East Bay and San Francisco (see the "Links" pull down menu). Please let me know if you would like to add a musical organization that you enjoy.  In addition, I offer the students an opportunity for "extra credit" if they fill out a MUSIC EVENT REPORT (available in the music room) after attending a concert.

I hope you find this list a useful tool. Happy listening! Please feel free to email me if you have any musical questions or concerns.

Why we study music?

This question has many answers. The uninformed parent may be tempted to say the only reason to study music is to train professional musicians. However, in my opinion, the following article answers this question very well.

“Music is about communication, creativity and cooperation. By studying music in school, students have the opportunity to build on these skills, enrich their lives and experience the world from a new perspective.” - Former President Bill Clinton
