Happy Halloween! The students look so amazing this morning and I am looking forward to seeing everyone at our parade later this morning! The 4th graders will be helping us celebrate Mass tomorrow for All Saints Day at 11am in the amphitheater. All students should be in uniform for our Mass.
Over the past few weeks, we have been sharing details about our Disaster Drill, which is scheduled for Friday morning after beginning at 10:45.
- Pick-up time for all students is 11:15 - 11:45 am.
- No students can remain on campus after 12:00 noon
- Panther House is CLOSED after 9:30 am
- No students can walk off campus ~ they must be picked up by an authorized adult
- Please be sure to bring a photo ID to pick up your child and the check out process will be in the plaza near the crosswalk.
- Only those authorized on your emergency contacts will be allowed to pick up your student.
- All cars need to park in the upper lot as the lower lot will be closed during the drill.
- Thank you in advance for your cooperation!

Reporting Parent Volunteer Hours
- It is your responsibility to report your hours; you will be billed for hours if you do not submit per the above process.
Scrip Program
We have $900 in American Airlines in our scrip inventory. If you are thinking of purchasing American Airlines tickets, please consider buying this scrip to use for your ticket purchase.

Medications at School
If your child takes medications (prescription or non-prescription) that need to be kept on campus, you will need to bring the medications (in the original container) as well as the ' Request for medication to be taken during school hours' form on the school website. Please be aware that if the medicine is a prescription, a doctor's signature is also required on the form. If you want your student to carry their Epi-Pen, you will need to also complete the 'Permission To Carry' form, which also needs a physician's signature.

Did You Know...
Did you know that as part of our Channels of Peace program (CHOP), we have CHOP Awards for students who are demonstrating 'Being The Good' actions in the classroom, on the playground, or anytime during the school day? Any staff member or parent can give any student a CHOP Award. Students from each class are drawn from the awards jar and they receive acknowledgement from Student Leadership and a Free Dress Pass!

We will hold our Annual Disaster Drill on Friday, November 2nd. Although we hope to never need to implement these procedures, it is imperative that we all review and practice the various aspects of the plan.
- On that day students are picked up between 11:15 and 11:45 am in the new plaza area at the end of school building near the cross walk.
- No students can walk off campus ~ they must be released to an adult
- No students can remain on campus after 12:00 pm.
- Click here for the Emergency Drill form that you can bring to Disaster Drill pick-up. Forms will also be available at the Disaster Drill check-in table.
Students will only be released to those listed on their student profile and ALL adults MUST show their ID. If someone other than the parent or another person already on your Emergency/Authorized Pick-up list will be picking up your child on the day of the Disaster Drill, please email the office with that authorized person's name. Panther House is closed that afternoon so that we can review the drill as an entire staff.

Red Ribbon Week Fundraisers
Thank you for supporting our Healthy Living fundraisers. We raised $402 from the Jamba Juice and Red Ribbon Bracelets and we are sending your donations the American Heart Association. Great job, Leadership Team and students!
Donut Sale - November 8th
Leadership will be selling donuts for $2.00 each. We will be having three types of donuts: glazed, chocolate, or sprinkles. Order forms are available here or in "This Week's Flyers." Please turn in the order form WITH PAYMENT no later than MONDAY, November 5th. Donuts will be passed out at recess on THURSDAY, November 8th. We do not usually have many left over, so be sure to order! Thanks for your support!

Mission Effectiveness
Mission Effectiveness ~ Thanksgiving Outreach
Each year, St. Perpetua donates Thanksgiving baskets to the Monument Crisis Center to help local needy families enjoy the Thanksgiving Holiday.
In order to help those families, we ask that each student bring in one item according to the class assignments below, as well as $5 towards gift cards for buying a turkey.
All classes are collecting the following food items for Thanksgiving "Baskets":
TK & Kindergarten - 16 oz. can cranberry sauce (2 cans)
First Grade - 15 oz. can whole kernel corn (2 cans)
Second Grade - 12 oz. can of evaporated milk (2 cans)
Third Grade - Instant mashed potatoes
Fourth Grade - Stove top stuffing mix (for turkey) (2 packages)
Fifth Grade - Pumpkin Pie Mix (make sure it's the pie mix)
Sixth Grade - Ready crust graham (not frozen)
Seventh Grade - 14 oz. can whole green beans
Eighth Grade - Large rectangular roasting pan (big enough for a turkey) (1 or 2)
Faculty - Instant gravy

The Gratitude Tree
To kick off the Thanksgiving season, the Mission Effectiveness Committee, along with the 8th grade class, have started the Gratitude Tree. Students will be filling out leaves with something they are grateful for and adding it to the tree. Please stop by the back hallway to see our Gratitude Tree burst with thanks!

Library News
Author W. Bruce Cameron is coming to St. Perpetua School
On Wednesday, November 7th, W. Bruce Cameron is coming to St. Perpetua School to meet with our 3rd, 4th and 5th grade classes. He is the author of many best-selling novels for kids and adults. Mr. Cameron's novel, "A Dog's Purpose" became a major motion picture. He will be at St. Perpetua upon the release of his newest book, "Shelby's Story: A Dog's Purpose Puppy Tale". This is an irresistible story about a little stray puppy rescued from life on the streets. As will all of his children's books, it is heartwarming and funny, weaves in important life lessons, and is narrated by a dog.
The visit will be educational and inspirational. He'll sign and personalize pre-paid books from the Puppy Tales series. He is also willing to sign his adult novels for the grown-ups in your family. All St. Perpetua students, in any grade, can pre-order books and meet him during recess on Nov 7th. Personalized books can also be ordered as gifts for fans of his work.

The Counselor's Corner
NEXT WEEK (November 5-9) we are offering a few different options for screening times of the IndieFlix Film "Like" http://thelikemovie.com for parents and/or older students. We also have the honor of having Orinda Police Chief Mark Nagel available to attend the evening events for a 30 minute info and question session after the film.

Panther House
Dear Parents,
Wow! How could it be November tomorrow? Speaking of a new month, don't forget to send in your calendars. I have only a few November calendars so far. In this month where we focus on thankfulness, we are thankful that disaster has not hit our neighborhood. But it's critically important to be prepared, which is why we will practice our disaster drill this Friday, November 2. Panther House will be closed after 9:30 am.
Seventh Annual Panther House Pumpkin Relay Run
Join us as we continue this annual tradition of keeping fit and having fun! We'll run a relay, up on the grass hill, on Wednesday, November 14. Kids will pass a pumpkin between themselves as they compete for bragging rights. Open to all registered Panther House students. Come over to Panther House at 3pm. Then we'll do the run from 3:30-4pm. If your child would like to participate, please make sure they are signed up in advance. A quick email is all it takes.
No drop-ins for this event please.
FIRST AID CLASS- DEADLINE is NOVEMBER 1st
We are offering a one-day First Aid Class for 5th thru 8th grade. It's great if your child is planning on doing any babysitting this year! Sign up for one day, either Tuesday, Nov. 6 or Thursday, Nov 8. Click here for flyer.

Carondelet & De la Salle News
Open House is just around the corner on Sunday, November 4th.
- De la Salle's Open House is 10:00 - 12:00 noon
- Carondelet's Open House is 2:00 - 4:00 pm.
- This events are open to all ages and is a great way to get a feel for the Carondelet and De la Salle communities and meet our talented students and faculty/staff. We hope to see you there!
The HSPT (High School Placement Test) Prep Course will be held at Carondelet on Saturday, December 8th from 9-12. If you would like to register your 8th-grade son or daughter, please do so quickly as space is becoming very limited. You can register here or on our Admissions webpage.

Taste of TK & Kindergarten
Our Taste of TK & Kindergarten event is Friday, November 30th, 8:45am - 10:00am!
Incoming Transitional Kindergarten and Kindergarten age children and their parent(s) are invited to get a taste of Kindergarten for a morning! Enjoy a casual conversation with the school principal and staff, discussing our kindergarten program and common topics including kindergarten readiness, emotional maturity, creating smooth transitions and more.
Parents will then accompany their children into the kindergarten classroom to experience a short lesson and project, supervised by our teaching staff. You are invited to visit Cafe Perpetua and enjoy fresh baked goods, made from our local garden ingredients, and freshly brewed coffee. School tour provided and parents are given time to socialize. Parents must remain on campus during this event. You can register for this free event here.

2018 Family Participation Program / Parent Volunteer Hours
St. Perpetua School relies on parents to share their time, talents and treasures. Volunteer participation is necessary as tuition revenue does not cover operating costs of the school. Parent participation ensures the success of social events and school programs as well as nurturing the opportunity make new friendships. Click here for more details.
- TK-only, Kindergarten-only, and single parent families have a 15 hour requirement
- All other families are required to complete 35 volunteer hours.
- ** NEW ** Report your hours in October, January, and April, with your last report due May 25th, using the attached file and email to [email protected]

SCRIP, e-Scrip & Benefit-Mobile
Your Scrip & Benefit-Mobile profit requirement helps Parent Association bridge the gap between tuition revenue and education costs. In addition, through your Scrip participation above and beyond your requirement, you can earn tuition credit for your family with your continued Scrip purchases!
- Our Scrip tracking year is January 1st - December 31st.
- All Families will receive a 'profit-to-date' recap in mid-October
- New families entering school in the fall have a $100 PROFIT requirement for the August-December timeframe of their first year. If you reach a $200 profit level, all profit above that amount results in a school credit for you.
- Returning families have a $250 PROFIT requirement. If you reach a $350 profit level, all profit above that amount results in a school credit for you.
- Payment for scrip purchases can be made by check (preferred) or credit card. If payment is made by credit card, associated bank service charges will be deducted from your scrip profits.
- Families can choose to do a 'buyout' to fulfill their requirement. Email Kim Fogarty if you'd like to be billed for your buyout.
We follow a bi-weekly ordering schedule. Here is the order & delivery schedule dates. We carry four local merchant cards in the office for convenient pick up: Diablo Foods, Lunardi's, Mangia Ristorante, and Cooperage. The full roster of scrip cards (literally hundreds!) can be found on the ShopWithScrip site.
The Benefit Mobile application (www.benefit-mobile.com) lets you purchase e-gift cards for the exact amount of your purchase when at the checkout register. Coffee & Donuts are back
Isn't it wonderful to have a delicious cup of coffee and a donut waiting for you at Café Perpetua after the 9:30 Mass? This is only possible thanks to some wonderful and dedicated volunteers. Most of them have done it for many years. In order for this wonderful tradition to continue we need your help.
Here is what you'd be doing: pick up donuts at Safeway, set up, make coffee & lemonade and clean up after. Y ou can do it once a month or less often, whatever your busy schedule allows. Please contact Christoph at the parish office if you're willing to assist.
