bulletin # 17 (1)

Report Cards are coming home today with your student. Students in Kindergarten through 5th grade receive a standards-based report card. These report cards reflect the standards that have been taught and assessed as of the end of the first trimester. You will see standards that are blank which means that standard has not been fully addressed yet. Jr. High students receive a traditional graded report card. Please look closely at the attendance section of the report card and note that per our school handbook, four or more tardies and ten or more absences in a trimester is considered excessive. Student attendance at school is a key factor in their academic success.
We had a wonderfulRise and Shine Masslast Sunday and ourKindergarteners and First gradersdid an excellent job welcoming St. Nicholas and listening to his story about giving.
If you were not able to join us for Mass, here is an excerpt from the parish financial report that was delivered after the homily,"Capital Campaign Contributions and Year-End Giving Opportunities."
"With construction of the new Community Center underway, we're starting to write some big checks - so completing one's Capital Campaign pledge is a priority. Some have already completed their initial pledges, others are making periodic contributions, and a few have not yet taken the opportunity to participate. Regardless of which group you're in, we want to remind everyone of a great way to combine a Capital Campaign contribution with income tax benefits.
Investors with appreciated securities can gift those securities to St. Perpetua to make year-end charitable contributions, whether to fulfill a Capital Campaign pledge or make an additional or one-time contribution. The full value of the appreciated security would be a charitable deduction for income tax purposes if given to St. Perpetua this yearandwithout incurring any capital gains taxes. The last two pages of our written report describes how the stock gifting process works. As always, do consult with your own tax advisors on what makes the most financial sense for you. But here's the catch - time is short, this is a paper-based process, and it needs to go thru the Diocese for legal reasons. So if this is something of interest, please do pay close attention to page 3 and 4 of the Finance Report in the bulletin and don't delay."
Please feel free to contact Fr. John Kasper if you have any questions about this Community Center project.
We have two outreach projects for the Christmas season. First,
our giving treein the front office is decorated and ready to receive gifts. All are invited to choose an ornament tag for a girl or a boy, purchase a gift and add the appropriate age to the tag, and return the gift under the tree. Samaratian House in Oakland will distribute the gifts to the children in their care. We are also collecting
socks for the Monument Crisis Centerand next week students will gather in Faith Families to make cards for their clients to enjoy during their Christmas brunch on the 15th.
Christmas Sharingis right around the corner! Next Friday, December 15th will be a noon dismissal.Christmas Sharing begins at 10:45. Here is the time schedule when each class will perform their song in the Library.

the coming of your Son as man, so lead us through his suffering and death t
o thegloryof his resurrection, for he lives and reigns with you and the Holy Spirit,

Counselor's Corner
During the excitement and busy-ness of the holiday season, it is so easy to get swept up in planning, details and chaos.Parents tend to focus on taking care of everyone else during the Holiday Season. There is more and more pressure to create "perfect" holiday celebrations (social media has undoubtedly been part of the reason for that increase in pressure), but that pressure takes a toll and often makes the holiday much less than perfect.
It may feel impossible to stop and take time to truly enjoy the moments, butthoseare the moments that will be most authentic and meaningful.Take these 5 steps to help ease the holiday stress, be more present (notgift-wrapped) and maybe make Christmas even more enjoyable:
  • Pace Yourself
  • Focus on Gratitude
  • Practice the Art of Letting Go
  • Fully Engage with Your Loved Ones
  • Prioritize Silence and Meditative Tasks
More details about those 5 steps are foundhere...
Happy Meaningful Holidays to you all,

School Auction / Parent Party
It's beginning to look a lot like. . . .Auction!!
Save the Date ofMarch 10for the Parent Party. It'll be just that! No Live Auction, just a fun St. Patricks Day themed party.
There will be an On-Line Auction beginningMarch 8thand we need your help! It takes all of us asking our favorite gymnastics studios, hair salons, restaurants, and shops we frequent if they are willing to donate. Your company, friends and family who have season tickets to the Sharks, Warriors, or the Giants are a great ask too! All of these items are needed to have a successful on-line auction and make money for our school to bridge the gap between the tuition we pay and the actual cost to educate each of our children (~$3k).
