Counselor's Corner

I was so grateful to be able to host a wonderful Parent Ed Night led bylocal mindfulness expert Betsy Shandalov. Thank you to Kim, Suzanne, Linda and Karen for helping me with the logistics and planning.
As a part of her event, Betsy led the attending students and parents in a few activities including some yoga stretches and helpful tools (such as learning to "Take 5"). She gave us some wonderful tips on how to incorporate mindfulness in our everyday lives to help kids (and adults) deal with stress, anxiety, self-regulation and more. We were unable to see her slideshow presentation due to a power outage, but I will be sure to share that when I receive it.
Here are a few helpful links related to Mindfulness and Happiness that Betsy referenced:
As we all want a deep happiness in life for our kids (and ourselves), I researched the Yale class a bit more. It turns out Yale Professor Laurie Santos is offering a course similar toPsych 157 called "The Science of Well-Being" FREE to the public through Coursera -. I just signed up to take this course and I would love to hear from other parents or teens who also decide to sign-up.

Thank you!
