2017 Bulletin # 8

We are so blessed to be part of this amazing school community!!!
Parent Socialsare truly a gift that enables our parents to meet with one another and nurture friendships that often last long after students graduate from St. P's.Thank youto all who help to make these wonderful evenings possible!!!
We are still on schedule tobegin our construction project next month. By mid October, you will see the "mobilization" process beginning. The first step of this process will be a fence to the immediate right of the main driveway. This fence is a necessary safety feature and clear barrier for all members of our community.
Monday, Oct. 2 marks the mid point of the first trimester. I hope you have had a chance to sign up forparent/teacher conferencesnext week. These meetings are valuable and essential in communicating student progress and areas for continued development and support. We recognize parents are the primary educators of their children and conferences enable a stronger partnership between home and school. The sign up genius for these conferences will remain available until 3pm on Friday, and after that time parents will need to contact the classroom teacher directly to schedule a meeting time.
Finally, I want to let you know that Mr. Ron LeGaux, our bookkeeper, shared with me that he has accepted a new job closer to his home in Alameda. We thank Ron for his many years of service to our school community and wish him the very best in this new opportunity. I have submitted this opening to the diocese to be posted on their website. During this transition time, Kim Fogarty will be working with Ron and Armanino, our accounting firm, to ensure all necessary business transactions are completed.
God of love, you enter into our autumn seasons, into our deepest places of inner dwelling, in the heart of our transformation. You give us glimpses of the truth.May we allow our experience of autumn to speak to us of necessary change and growth.Grant us an openness to the continuous process of letting go and loving on that is part of the human condition. We are grateful thatYou are our faithful companion on this journey.

Notes from the Music Room... ~Mrs. Lisa Holmes
We are off to a great start! The students are singing, listening and learning music in many creative ways.

In an effort to encourage students and families to take advantage of our rich musical community, I have created a page of links to many of the organizations in the East Bay and San Francisco (see the pull down menu on my St. Perpetua School page). Please let me know if you would like to add a musical organization that you enjoy. In addition, I offer the students an opportunity for "extra credit" if they fill out a MUSICAL EVENT REPORT (available in the music room) after attending a concert.

I hope you find the list of links a useful tool. Happy listening!

Counselor's Corner ~ Mrs. Kelli Bacher
I have really enjoyed meeting so many students and parents over the past month at St. Perpetua! Please continue to introduce yourselves and please continue to send inCounseling Permission Slips.

Last week I was able to join the students who are new to St. P.s at a "New Student/ Counselor Luncheon". I was so happy to hear that those students have seemed to overall acclimate well. They all knew which adults to turn to if they needed help and they all have felt welcomed by their peers. Some were more talkative than others, so I do hope the quieter ones will let us know if they are not feeling as comfortable. Please thank all St. Perpetua students for being inclusive and please encourage them tocontinueto do so.

I have been working with many students on social issues and one topic that is reoccurring is the feeling of not fitting in. While most students do feel as if they are connecting with others, please let us know if your student is not. Please remind your students to be inclusive with all of their peers- across genders, ages, groups, and other differences.

Please feel free to contact me at anytime.

Thank you,
Kelli Bacher

Panther House

Dear Parents,
Can you believe Friday marks the end of the September already? That means I'm looking for yourOctober Panther Houseschedule. I am missing quite a few.DownloadHERE.
Also, I've got a suggestion to help you: Take a cell photo of your submitted calendar for easy reference. It can help you recall what days you have your child signed up for Panther House. My experience has been that by about the third week of the month, people forget what days for which they have signed up. Understandably families have busy, changing lives. Just email me when your daily schedule does NOT match what you sent in.
OnMonday, October 30, we will haveHalloweenFUN & GAMES PARTYafter school. This will include some games and face painting. If you would like your child to attend, please put it on your October Calendar or email Mrs. Kenney(lkenney@csdo.org).Children must be on the attendance roster for this day.
On Tuesday, October 31, children come dressed in costume for Halloween.
It is half-day.Children will be dismissed after the Halloween Parade.
Panther House is closed that afternoon.

Birthday Club-- Join the Club and help us get books kids love!
Please help us to continue building our library collection with books that kids love to read. Join the Birthday Club! For a small donation, your child gets to select a new book to be purchased for our school library. The book will have a nameplate in the front cover, celebrating your child's birthday. We collect all Birthday Club forms now, regardless of your child's birth date. In October, students select the new books that are ordered for the library. The Birthday Club student will be the FIRST student to borrow the new book from the library. S/he also gets to check out the Birthday Club book as an "extra" book, in addition to his/her regular library books. The kids love to participate just as much as they love to celebrate birthdays. Please consider helping our library to continue growing. Having kid-selected books in the library helps us to develop a love of reading.

If you'd like to download a Birthday Club form, go to our school website athttp://www.stperpetuaschool.org/programs/library/birthday_club/ Contact our school librarian, Stacey Hinton, with any questions atshinton@csdo.org
